Ways to protect your health while traveling.
Check all local guidelines before traveling. When required or if it makes you feel more comfortable, wear a mask that covers your face and mouth in public spaces. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitizer. Refrain from touching your mouth or nose and cover them when coughing or sneezing. Stay at least 3-6 feet away from others, even if they are in protective gear.
How to pack
Make a checklist of what the items that you need to enjoy yourself while being mindful of the pandemic. Be sure to include protective gear and supplies, inlcuding hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes. Packing the right toiletries are important because these play a huge role in your health and hygiene. Ensure that liquids, gels, and creams are all travel-friendly sizes. Try to use a clear plastic bag to pack your essentials as it will make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for, and at airports in case your bag gets flagged.
Traveling on a flight
While flying, in addition to your mask, wearing full-sleeves and gloves can also go a long way in reducing the chances of an infection. A protective visor over your face is also recommended. These actions may feel excessive but your health is more important, right?
Embrace slow travel
Similar to how we have always run our trips, it is now recommended that you embrace “slow travel” by diving into one destination at a time instead of visiting multiple places. It’s the perfect opportunity to engage with the culture. Visiting too many destinations will lead to a lot more travel, added precautions, and restrictions, which are not always as enjoyable.
Travel insurance may seem unnecessary but we strongly recommend it. Given the current state of the pandemic, insurance protects you from unexpected travel disruptions. Make sure your coverage includes emergency medical aid or evacuation. Even better if it covers cancellations. The credit card used to book your trip may already include insurance.
